Blackberry Lane Designs, LLC Presents “Stitching in the Garden” Item #184 |
Stitching in the Garden was cross stitched on 32 Count Wren
by Picture This Plus. This design was primarily cross
stitched over 2 threads using 2 strands of DMC floss and
over-dyed threads by The Gentle Art Sampler and Shaker,
and Classic Color Works. There are petite points cross
stitches on some of the letters, which is one strand of
over dyed floss over one linen thread.
For myself, I make a small pouch of lavender to insert it into the pincushion. “I absolutely love the smell of lavender when I am pricking the pincushion with my needles”. To do this make a 3” by 3” pouch and fill it with lavender. The pouch will keep the lavender from working its way out through the linen. Place some wool roving all the way around the inside of the pincushion, and then inserted the pouch into the center. Finish off the opening with some more wool roving and then close the remaining hole. The fresh lavender can give off its aroma for up to 2 years.
